(Annual report on Indian Epigraphy)
The Epigraphy Branch of the Archaeological Survey of India came into existence in the year 1886 at Bangalore under the leadership of Dr.E. Hultzsch (first Government Epigraphist for India). This office has been doing systematic survey of epigraphs spread over different parts of the country, with a view to successfully decipher, transcribe and edit them. This branch has been bringing out several departmental publications. The chief among them are :
